An 8 Ender occurs when a team scores 8 points in one end of play. There have been four "8 Enders" in our club's history.

An eight ender in curling is very rare and may be compared to a hole- in-one in golf.

In order to score eight points in one end, all of the eight rocks have to be inside the rings, or house.

None of the opponent's rocks may be closer to the button than any of your rocks. If we consider that each team only has eight rocks per end, and the opposition has eight chances to remove at least one of these rocks from the rings, it is obvious that this is a feat of not only great skill, but also a certain amount of luck.

On February 10, the team skipped by Chuck Harrison, with Lloyd Landers, Ray Schizkoske and Robert Masciolli accomplished this feat in the fourth end of a game in the New Horizons League. The feat was not without difficulty, since Chuck had to execute a perfect take-out with his last rock and avoid jamming the opponent's rock onto his own in the back of the house.

In October, 2008 skip Guy Deslauriers with vice Malcolm MacDonald, second George Steep, and lead Gord Johns added their names to the list of 8 ender teams.

No picture exist of the first team to register an 8 ender in our club but we do know that the skip was no other than past president Don Critchley who achieved the feat in 1997

On February 15, skip John Perrier and his team composed of vice Gerry Cote, second Bob MacDonald and lead Sylvio Dubeau completed an 8 ender at the 9 a.m. draw. With an opponent rock sitting between two of his seven stones in the house John was able to chip it out and keep his in the house to score 8 in the end.
