Executive Meeting – December 6, 2007

Attendance: Ray Schizkoske, Arnold St.Onge, Rhea McKane, Sheila Harrison, Bob MacDonald, John Perrier, Bill Sweet, Ray Ginglo, Connie Grosvenor, Chuck Harrison, Ray Dumoulin, Don Critchley

Absent: Art Mousley

President Ray welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Financial Report:

President Ray reported in Treasurer Mousley’s absence that present bank balance was $6953.07.  Outstanding debts are to pay for the bar help at the Dusty Baker, the bus to Iroquois Falls, the December banquet and lunch.  We are about $1500 ahead of the situation last year so are in good shape.

Christmas Banquet:

Don Critchley has arranged for the food from the Golden Dragon Restaurant.  He is only waiting to be able to confirm the number of attendees.  Rhea is charge of desserts, John Perrier in charge of coffee for lunch.

The 50/50 draw for the Dusty Baker bonspiel has not been claimed so the executive unanimously agreed to give the unclaimed award to the food bank.

Invitations to the banquet are to be extended to the following past members

·        Lionel Gauthier

·        Carmen Miller

·        Dan Chenier

·        Tremaine Banks

·        MCC Club Secretary – Linda Larrett

·        MCC Bartender – Tarja

·        MCC ice maker – Kent MacInnes

A discussion ensued as to how many past members are to be invited to the banquet.  The executive consensus was that past members could be invited for a term of two years.

Challenge Round:

All current arrangements appear to be OK

Curling Resumption in the New Year:

Wednesday curling will resume on January 2, 2008 and regular curling will resume on January 3, 2008.

Joe Gubbels Funspiel Trophy selection:

The executive selected a trophy suitable to the cause at hand from a selection of trophies provided by the McIntyre Curling Club.  We are grateful for this donation of a trophy in memory of a significant contributor to our enjoyment of our “Golden Years.”  Don Ctitchley will refurbish the trophy.

Memorial Plaque

The executive discussed the issue of a memorial plaque for deceased members.  The executive soon came to the realization that such a plaque would in reality be a membership list of deceased members.  The idea was not considered further.

Ice Cleaning

The MCC would like us to clean the ice after each game.

Rule Regarding Ties in Bonspiels

Controversy arose over President Ray’s decision in the recent Dusty Baker Bonspiel to allow two teams to share a victory rather than declare a clear winner in spite of those two teams agreeing to the compromise “tied-for-first” position.  This was undoubtedly a rare occurrence.  In future, ties will be decided initially upon wins and losses and, failing a clear decision, each skip shall deliver one rock, no sweepers allowed, closest to the button wins.  This decision will be include in the Operations Manual in the appropriate section(s).

Coffee and Donuts

The matter was left in the hands of Rhea McKane to arrange.

Website

Ray Ginglo explained that there are administration problems that exist with LYCOS, the web site provider, and he expects those issues to be resolved within the next month.
