Financial
Report
Art advised that we are holding our own. Association fees have been paid for 117
members for 2009/2010. Our membership is
down over previous years.
4.
Christmas
Banquet
Don Critchley is in charge of ordering the meal from
the Golden Dragon. He estimates that the
cost will be $7.00 per person. We will
provide coffee that morning; Phil Barrette will be in charge.
Ray mentioned that he had been approached by a
member asking if we would invite Vi Bradbury to the Christmas banquet in light
of her past contributions to our league.
The Executive decided this will be a one-time only invitation, and the
league will pay for her meal if she attends.
It has been our practice that past curlers who are
no longer able to curl have been invited to the Christmas banquet for two
consecutive years only. This year we
will invite Mary and J.P. Larocque, Bob McDonald, and George Coupland; Ray
Schizkoske will contact them. As in
previous years, an invitation will be extended to Linda Larrett, Office Manager,
Tarja Brayshaw, Bartender, and Kent MacInnes, Icemaker.
Arnold St-Onge will organize the 50:50 draw for the
Christmas Banquet.

Joe Gubbels
Memorial Funspiel
We would like to have a full slate of 24 teams for
this event. Executive members are
encouraged to talk it up with members, especially those who are new to our
league.
8.
Closing
Banquet and Presentations
It was decided that we would wait until January 2010
and assess our financial situation before deciding on a caterer for this
event. We have requested a rebate for
the curling dates we lost in October when the ice was not ready, but no
decision has been forthcoming to date.
9.
Over 80 Club
Don Critchley, Reno Marinig and Bob Armstrong’s
names will be added to the Over 80 plaque.
Currently, there are insufficient members to feature an “Over 80” game.
10.
Dusty Baker
Bonspiel
A suggestion has been made that this bonspiel be
changed to four days, with only one game per day, in the hopes that more
members would participate. This
suggestion will be raised for discussion at our Christmas banquet.
11.
Wednesday
Curling League
The current system will remain in place. There are six teams participating in this
draw, which is an increase of two teams over last season.
12.
George
Coupland
George has not curled this autumn, and may not
return. Bill Vane raised the suggestion
of having George donate his broom for display at the Mac in recognition of his
years curling in our League, as he is the only original founding member. Bill Vane will be responsible for followup on
this item.
13.
Presidential
Absence
Ray Schizkoske advised that he will be absent for
two or three weeks in February. Members
of the Executive will pitch in and keep things running during Ray’s absence
14.
Next Meeting
An Executive Meeting will be called in early March
2010 to develop an agenda for the General Meeting on
15.
Other Items,
Questions/Comments
It will be mentioned at the Christmas banquet that
if any New Horizons member has a suggestion on how our league is run, they
should write it down and give it to an Executive Member so it can be placed on
the agenda for the General Meeting in April.
