1.                  Minutes of Last Meeting

Connie Grosvenor read the minutes of the meeting held on December 04, 2008.

Moved by Rhea, seconded by Arnold, that the minutes be accepted as read.                                                                                    CARRIED

2.                  Business Arising

There was no Business Arising.

3.                  Financial Report

Art advised that our current bank balance is $5,286.43 to date, $640 less than at the same time last year.  We have paid out $700 for Association fees, and our ice rental is $1,916.50/month.   Ice rental increase for the coming year should be approximately 3%, the same as the increase for city taxes.

It was suggested that the registration fee for 2009/10 be increased to $25; this item will be placed on the agenda for the general meeting in April.

4.                  Roy Carroll Bonspiel

The Roy Carroll bonspiel will be held on March 10 and 11, 2009 in Iroquois Falls.  Information is posted on the bulletin board.

5.                  Joe Gubbels Funspiel

The Joe Gubbels Funspiel will be held March 31, April 1 and 2, and April 7, 8 and 9, 2009.  There will be a participation fee of $20 for the six days.  Rules for the event are the same as the Dusty Baker Bonspiel, and are posted on the bulletin board.  The rules will be included as part of the game schedule to be passed out on the first day of the Funspiel.

6.                  Executive Responsibilities for Joe Gubbels Funspiel

All executive members are expected to assist in the smooth running of this event wherever and whenever the need may arise.

The draw will be made up at the McIntyre Curling Club.  Prizes will be given out in cash, and remain as in previous years:  $50 for first, $40 for second, $30 for third and $25 for fourth place.

It was recommended that when Bud Kline, sponsor for Parmalat, retires that we award the Joe Gubbels trophy for the first place team.

Sheila advised that D’Eatery has increased the meal price from $10 to $13 due to increased costs.  Connie and Sheila will request a quote from Bentley’s and Siva’s in an attempt to get a better price.  If the meal price continues to increase, we may have to increase the participation fee for the event to $25.

8.                  Seniority List

The updated seniority list was reviewed, and some changes made.  The list will be used for the draw for the Joe Gubbels Funspiel.

9.                  Rental Increase

As discussed in Art’s financial report, we anticipate an increase of 3% for ice rental in 2009/10.

10.             General Meeting Agenda

Items suggested for the general meeting agenda included:

Dusty Baker Bonspiel – reduce length to two days?  Not agreed upon.

Wednesday Curling League – team makeup by draws?  The current system will remain in place.

Challenge Round:  procedure will remain unchanged.  However, if you signed up as a spare, but ended up curling, you can sign up for the next game as a regular curler.    (to be placed on the agenda)

11.             Over 80 Club

We do not currently have enough over 80 members to have an ‘over 80’ game.  The Over Eighty list will be updated.

12.             10:30 Draw Spares

A lively discussion took place concerning those who curl at 9:00 and sign up as spares for the 10:30 draw.  Some Club members had suggested that the spares should pay $3 to curl the second game.  The system will remain as is; spares only curl the second game if the 10:30 draw has insufficient members to fill up the sheets.

A second discussion ensued regarding new members who come to curl a few

times and subsequently don’t become members.

Moved by Phil, seconded by Don, that new members be allowed to curl one game without paying the membership fee; the second time they curl they must pay the membership fee.    CARRIED.

13.             Adjournment

Moved by Sheila that the meeting be adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
