2.                  Business arising from the minutes

There was no business arising from the minutes.

3.                  Correspondence

Ray Schizkoske had a sheaf of correspondence from Eric Glaister, President of the McIntyre Curling Club, and the NOCA.  All correspondence has been made available to Executive members via email.

4.                  Treasurer’s Report

Art Mousley advised that we have enough funds for startup of the 2009-2010 New Horizons curling season.

5.                  Rental discussion

Eric Glaister, President of the McIntyre Curling Club, has advised Ray Schizkoske that our rent for 2009-2010 will increase 10%.  Our requests for a more modest increase have been denied.

Art Mousley stated that we will be able to manage for the upcoming season, but has concerns for the years ahead.  The McIntyre Curling Club has been handed a 10% increase for the next three years, 2009 to 2011.  He strongly suggests that our league ask for the same consideration from the McIntyre Curling Club.

MOVED by Art Mousley, SECONDED by Ray Dumoulin, that we request that our rent for the curling seasons commencing in October of 2010 and 2011 not exceed 3% per year.  CARRIED

6.                  Fee structure for 2009-2010 curling season

Our registration fee for the upcoming season will be $30, and $3/game.  Our league will forward the $12 NOCA fee to the McIntyre Curling Club, to be passed on to the Association.

7.                  Setup for 9:00 and 10:30 draws

The 9:00 and 10:30 draws will be run as in past years.  The seniority list is to be followed as much as possible, and curlers’ requests granted if possible.  For the Wednesday curling league, there will be a pre-Christmas and a post-Christmas draw.

8.                  Curling Days

All information on curling days, the Wednesday league, calendar of events, clinic dates and sign-up sheets, and Challenge Round dates will be posted on the bulletin board by Connie Grosvenor.

9.                  Cleaning the ice

Curlers are reminded to keep hands and knees off the ice if possible, and to turn off the lights when leaving the ice at noon if no one is curling after us.  Please, no STREET SHOES on the ice.

10.             Dusty Baker Bonspiel – November 17, 18 and 19, 2009

Sheila Harrison is our Banquet Coordinator, with assistance from Phil Barrette, Bill Vane and Rhea McKane.  The Dusty Baker will be a total of five games:  2 on Tuesday, 2 on Wednesday, and one on Thursday morning followed by the banquet and awards presentation.  Ray Ginglo is in charge of teams and scheduling, with assistance from Sheila Harrison and Ray Schizkoske.  All other directors who do not have an assigned task are requested to help our wherever necessary.

11.             Christmas Banquet – Thursday, December 17, 2009

Don Critchley is in charge of food; we will order Chinese buffet as in previous years.

12.             Closing Banquet – Thursday, April 1, 2010

Sheila Harrison, Bill Vane, Rhea McKane and Phil Barrette are in charge.  We will examine more cost-effective choices for caterers, as our league can no longer afford a cost of $14/plate.  Perhaps Chinese buffet will be a good choice.

13.             Assisting with Bonspiels

Again, all Executive members not assigned specific tasks for bonspiels are asked to assist wherever necessary. Only participants in bonspiels are invited to the meal.  Anyone else who wishes to attend will have to pay for the cost of the meal.

Ray Ginglo is in charge.  A cost of $3 will be collected from each curler going to Iroquois Falls; Don Critchley will book the bus.  The bus will leave the McIntyre Curling Club at 11:30 a.m. for travel to Iroquois Falls.
