  1. Business Arising

Rhea McKane questioned whether the HST could be claimed for reimbursement.

The City did not raise the McIntyre Curling Club’s rent this year.

      3.   Correspondence

The important correspondence from Eric Glaister has been e-mailed to our

Executive members which was mainly about rent.

Anne MacDonald, our representative to the Curling Club Board, will only be

invited when there is an issue with New Horizons.

  1. Financial Report

Art Mousley reported that we are beginning the year with $1000.00 less than

last year. We lost 20 members last year. Art emphasized that we must retain

our membership as our costs (Rent, HST, NOCA fees)will increase.

  1. Rental Discussion

Noel Arbic circulated a sheet of calculations Re. members required per Draw, number of days curling required to meet rent requirements. Noel did not take

into consideration the $15.00 NOCA  fee which is deducted from the registration

fee of $40.00.

Art mentioned that Bonspiels do not bring in dollars, as we break even. Thus we

must focus on 17 weeks of curling. There is a concern re. number of curlers

required to cover the rent, especially after January.

Ray pointed out that rent has increased 10% + 13% HST = 23%.

  1. Fee Structure

Art pointed out that we will be able to float this year but beyond this year we

will be in jeopardy. We will have to analyze the financial situation at the end

of December.

Bill Vane mentioned that several members curl with New Horizons because

they are in favour of the way we run the League. If the format changes, he

feels that we will lose members. Bill objects to the $15.00 NOCA fee.

Discussion followed concerning the fee.

The 2010 – 2011 Curling Season fee for New Horizons will be as follows:

Registration Fee: $40.00 and $4.00 / Draw

Even though the City did not increase the Curling Club’s rent, the Curling

Club Board is sticking to the 10% increase in our rent and will not discuss

the matter. In other words take it or leave it!
